The Energy Of Your Thoughts
Jan 25, 2022This week I was reminded of the power of energy behind our words and our thoughts.
Have you ever taken the time to pay attention to the thoughts and mind stories that run through your mind?
Most of us have most negative and unhelpful thoughts running through our minds. In fact, I have even heard that the majority of people find that up to 80% of their thoughts are negative.
Today my invitation for you is to begin to pay attention to the thoughts and stories that run through your mind.
What is your inner dialogue like?
What do you notice?
Are your thoughts helpful?
Are they kind?
Are they negative?
Perhaps they are harsh or cruel...
In fact, it is common for people to find out, as they begin to pay attention, their self-talk can have a harsh tone and be hurtful to themselves.
Have you ever noticed harsh thoughts towards yourself that you would never say to anyone else?
I wonder...
How would your body feel if someone said to you, “What is wrong with you?!” in a harsh tone?
Or
“I hate your pelvis!”
Or
“You will never be normal!”
I know I would feel hurt inside if someone said any of those things to me, especially if it were in a harsh and negative tone.
The truth is that no matter who you hear harsh words or thoughts from, it affects you...
Remember, there an energy to the words that we say out loud and to the words and thoughts that we think.
So, my second invitation is for you begin to pay attention to how you FEEL when you think your thoughts.
What do you notice occurring in your body?
Do you feel more energized?
Do you notice some sensation in your chest or in your stomach?
Does your pelvis, back or neck tighten up?
Perhaps your pain level increases?
Or maybe you begin to feel anxious...
Next time, I’ll begin to talk about some specific common thought habits that could be affecting you, your body and your health but for now, just give yourself the gift of being more aware.
Just notice.
And please, be sure to do so with as much self-compassion as you can muster.
You deserve it.
